10 years after Great East Japan Earthquake
An official opens a gate barring entry to the northeastern Japan town of Okuma on March 8, 2021, as the Japanese government allowed short-duration visits to the central part of the town, which co-hosts the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, ahead of the 10th anniversary of the nuclear disaster. Visitors are prohibited from staying overnight or living in the town as an evacuation order remains in place.
