Survey on endangered Amami thrushes
File photo taken Aug. 28, 2017, shows an Amami thrush, an endangered bird endemic to Amami-Oshima Island in Amami, Kagoshima Prefecture, protected by the central Japanese government. An annual survey conducted by a local bird club on March 21, 2021, confirmed about 100 Amami thrushes, almost unchanged from the previous year.
