Naturally bred salamanders found on Japan's Shikoku Island
A salamander larva found in Kochi Prefecture is photographed in Kochi city on Feb. 6, 2015. Wanpaku Kochi Animal Land, a zoo in the city, announced the same day that it has found 16 salamander larvae in the western Japanese prefecture, confirming for the first time that salamanders, a species designated as one of Japan's special natural treasures, were naturally bred on Shikoku Island, the smallest of the country's four main islands.
