Japan Mint begins producing coins to mark reconstruction from 2011 disaster

Japan Mint holds a ceremony in Osaka, western Japan, on Feb. 20, 2015, to start minting commemorative 1,000 and 10,000 yen coins marking reconstruction from the March 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster. Both sides of the 1,000 yen silver coin (bottom) and 10,000 yen gold coin are displayed in this photo. Incused on the reverse of each coin is the image of a "miracle pine tree" in Rikuzentakata, northeastern Japan, which survived the disaster. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo
