Abe not aware of receipt of gov't subsidies by 2 donors
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe blows his cheeks during a session of the House of Representatives' Budget Committee on March 3, 2015, in Tokyo. Abe has acknowledged that a Liberal Democratic Party local chapter he heads received donations from two companies that had been selected for government subsidies but claims he was not aware of government decisions to subsidize them. The political funds control law bans a company from making a political donation within a year of receiving a notification from the government of its decision to grant a subsidy. (Kyodo)
