Cherry tree planted by Helen Keller resuscitated
Seiichi Takeishi, an arborist and executive of Keihan Gardening Co., stands next to a cherry tree at Biwako Otsukan, a public facility on the edge of Lake Biwa formerly known as Biwako Hotel, in Shiga Prefecture, western Japan, on March 23, 2015. The tree is a "grandchild" tree of a cherry tree planted by U.S. social welfare activist Helen Keller (1880-1968) when she stayed at the hotel in 1937. (Kyodo)
