Main door of Osaka library opens for 1st time in 54 years
A tape-cutting ceremony is held on April 1, 2015, to mark the opening for the first time in 54 years of the main entrance door (back) of the Osaka Prefectural Nakanoshima Library, designated an important national cultural property, in the city of Osaka, western Japan. The three-meter-high wooden door had remained closed since 1961 as it had been blocked by a book-browsing space inside. The library, which opened in 1904, decided to relocate the space to reuse the main entrance popular among tourists. (Kyodo)
