Hokkaido brewers unearth rice wine aged under snow
Sake brewers of Takasagoshuzo Inc. open the lid of a container after digging it out of the snow in Biei, Hokkaido Prefecture, northern Japan, on April 2, 2015. The storage tank contains this year's new brew of rice wine, which had matured in the snow for about 100 days, a process said to create a smoother texture for the liquor. (Kyodo)
