Fukushima town mayor draws attention to deaths related to prolonged evacuation
Tamotsu Baba, mayor of Namie, Fukushima Prefecture, northeastern Japan, reports on the current situation of his town and its residents near the crippled nuclear power plant at a symposium in Tokyo on April 4, 2015. The entire town remains in the no-go zone due to the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi plant disaster and Baba called for attention to the increasing number of deaths - including from suicides and deteriorating health - related to the prolonged evacuation.
