Japan sends official to Taiwan over stricter food import rules
Photo taken April 17, 2015, shows a retail store in Taipei selling Japanese food and pharmaceutical products. Japan has sent a senior official to Taiwan to call on the island to reverse its decision to tighten regulations on Japanese food imports from May 15. Taiwan's move came after it was found in March that some foods were shipped to Taiwan from five Japanese prefectures subject to an import ban Taipei put in place after the 2011 Fukushima nuclear plant disaster.
