Anchor possibly of Japan's first corvette displayed in Hokkaido town
An anchor thought to have been used by the Kairin Maru, Japan's first sail and crew-driven corvette, is on display at a museum in Kikonai in the northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido on April 22, 2015. The Kanrin Maru became the first ship to cross the Pacific with a Japanese pilot in 1860. (Kyodo)
