China-born naturalized Japanese
Komaki Lee, a China-born naturalized Japanese, makes a stump speech in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward on April 24, 2015, when the 54-year-old Lee ran unsuccessfully for the ward assembly just two months after acquiring Japanese citizenship. Lee, who came to Japan in 1988 as a student, later worked as a tour guide for foreigners in Shinjuku's Kabukicho night entertainment district. He shouted "Love live democracy!" in Kabukicho to cap his campaign. (Kyodo)
