Monks scatter fans at Nara temple ceremony in western Japan
People try to catch heart-shaped fans thrown by Buddhist monks from the balcony of a drum tower at Toshodaiji, a temple in Nara city, western Japan, during a traditional ceremony on May 19, 2015. The fans are said to be able to ward off evil spirits and harmful insects. (Kyodo)
