Ceremony held for 1890 Turkish frigate wreck off Japan coast
Princess Akiko, the eldest daughter of the late Prince Tomohito of Mikasa, a cousin of Emperor Akihito, offers flowers at a commemorative ceremony in Kushimoto town, western Japan, on June 3, 2015, for the victims of a Turkish frigate that sank off Japan's Pacific coast in 1890 due to a typhoon. Of the 587 people aboard the warship Ertugrul, 69 survived due to rescue efforts by local residents. (Kyodo)
