Tsunami-hit hotel in Iwate Pref. undergoing preservation work

The remains of the Taro Kanko Hotel, struck by the 2011 tsunami in Miyako, Iwate Prefecture, northeastern Japan, are seen in February 2015. The structure is undergoing preservation work and will open to the public as a disaster relic. The hotel owner opened the Japanese-style inn Nagisatei Taro-an on nearby higher ground on June 1, 2015.
