A-bomb-surviving bridge in Hiroshima to get back prewar ornaments
A project is under way to restore bronze and metal ornaments to the concrete Enko Bridge in Hiroshima, western Japan, as shown in this photo taken on June 16, 2015. The bronze statue of an eagle on a globe-shaped object, seen in the foreground, was one of the ornaments. The bridge, built in 1926, had all decorations removed for military use during World War II but survived the 1945 atomic bombing. It is expected to regain its erstwhile form by the spring of 2016.
