1964 Olympic cauldron lit in tsunami-hit Ishinomaki
The cauldron used in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics is lit in Ishinomaki in Miyagi Prefecture, northeastern Japan, on June 27, 2015, with temporary housing for survivors of the March 2011 tsunami seen in the background. The cauldron is on loan to the city while Tokyo's National Stadium is being rebuilt to serve as the main venue for the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. (Kyodo)
