Earthenware vertical coffins discovered in Nara
A man talks about vertical cylindrical earthenware coffins that were discovered in the Akoda tomb group (made around the late 6th century to mid-7th century) in Nara, western Japan, at the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties' Center for Archaeological Operations on June 29, 2015. This was the first discovery in Japan of earthenware coffins for vertical positioning. (Kyodo)
