Japan, S. Korea officials at World Heritage Committee venue
Jun Shinmi (L), director general for cultural affairs at Japan's Foreign Ministry, and Choi Jong Moon, South Korea's ambassador for cultural and UNESCO affairs, exchange words on July 3, 2015, in Bonn, Germany, where the World Heritage Committee is examining proposals to inscribe 37 properties on UNESCO's World Heritage list. The two nations have been at odds over the proposed listing of Japanese industrial sites due to a history of compulsory recruitment of Korean workers at some of them. (Kyodo)
