Japanese Embassy in Kenya holds 1st Self-Defense Forces event
New defense attache Tomohiro Tomimatsu (L) at the Japanese Embassy in Kenya attends a ceremony on July 8, 2015, at the ambassador's residence in Nairobi to celebrate the July 1954 inauguration of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. The event was held at the embassy for the first time after Tomimatsu was appointed to the post in January as part of Japan's efforts to strengthen intelligence gathering on terrorism and other security issues in Africa following the January 2013 hostage crisis in Algeria.
