North Japan town combines solar power with farming in pilot project

Sohei Takahashi, chief of the Eco-energy Minamisoma Research Institute, shows on July 2, 2015, an experimental greenhouse run from solar power in Minamisoma, Fukushima Prefecture. A group of farmers led by Takahashi in the northeastern Japan city sells electricity generated by solar power panels installed at the farm while using the energy to produce vegetables in an effort to recover from the plight caused by the 2011 nuclear disaster at the Fukushima power plant.
