Hiroshima painter to exhibit works on survival of 1945 A-bombing
Japanese artist Hiroshi Omae explains on July 10, 2015, at an atelier in Hiroshima about paintings of his survival of the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing of the western Japan city that will be shown in an exhibition at a local cultural center from Aug. 1. Omae has avoided the topic for 50 years ever since he last held an exhibition under the A-bomb theme at age 28, but felt it is his responsibility as a "hibakusha" and a painter to do so as this year marks the 70th anniversary of the bombing.
