Japan to halt work on U.S. base relocation in Okinawa for month

Citizens demonstrate in front of the gate of the U.S. Marine Corps' Camp Schwab in Nago, Okinawa Prefecture, on Aug. 4, 2015, expressing opposition to a Japanese government plan to build a replacement facility in waters off the camp for Marine Corps Air Station Futenma in the same prefecture. Japan said the same day it will suspend work on the planned relocation of the Futenma base for a month from Aug. 10 as part of efforts to defuse tensions with local authorities. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo
