Actress group to perform drama on "Hiroshima Maidens"
Members of the "On7" actress group listen as Koko Kondo (foreground) talks at a church in Hiroshima, western Japan, on July 8, 2015, about the experience of the "Hiroshima Maidens," a group of Japanese women who survived the 1945 atomic bombing as schoolgirls but were seriously disfigured by burns and subsequently received reconstructive surgery in the United States a decade later. The actress group plans to perform a stage drama from September about the women whose U.S. treatment was arranged through the efforts of Kondo's late father Rev. Kiyoshi Tanimoto. (Kyodo)
