Security guards stand beside protesters' cars in front of Kyushu Electric Power Co.'s Sendai nuclear plant in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima Prefecture, on the morning of Aug. 11, 2015, prior to the resumption of the No. 1 reactor of the plant. Japan reactivated a nuclear reactor on the day for the first time in nearly two years despite strong safety concerns among the public following the catastrophe at the Fukushima Daiichi complex triggered by a powerful earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.
