Abe sends offering, as 2 Cabinet ministers visit war-linked shrine

Koichi Hagiuda, an adviser to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, visits the war-linked Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo on Aug. 15, 2015, the 70th anniversary of the country's surrender in World War II, on behalf of the premier. Abe sent a ritual offering to the shrine, which has been a source of diplomatic friction between Japan and several of its Asian neighbors. But Abe is likely to refrain from visiting the Shinto shrine himself during the day to limit any damage to Japan's ties with China and South Korea. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo
