Japan Diet passes bill to increase women in workforce
Haruko Arimura, Japan's minister in charge of women's empowerment, smiles in Tokyo on Aug. 28, 2015, as the House of Councillors passed into law a bill aimed at increasing women's participation in the workforce. Under the legislation, large public- and private-sector employers are required to set and publicize targets for the number of female employees to be hired or promoted to leadership positions. (Kyodo)
