Tohoku brewery sells ascidian ale in reconstruction effort
Wataru Sato, president of Sekinoichi brewery, holds a bottle of "Sanriku no Hoya (sea squirt) Ale" using sea squirt broth, in Ichinoseki, northeastern Japan, on Aug. 25, 2015. The brewery in Iwate Prefecture developed the unique ale jointly with a fish sales company in Minamisanriku town in Miyagi Prefecture, south of Iwate, and sold it on a trial basis in 2010, but its resale plan was suspended after the northeastern Japan region was hit by the powerful earthquake and tsunami in March the following year.
