Statue of WWII Soviet commander unveiled in Sakhalin
People look at a statue of Soviet Marshal Aleksandr Vasilevsky unveiled in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk in the Russian Far East on Sept. 1, 2015. Vasilevsky, commander of Soviet forces in the Far East, was in charge of the Manchurian Strategic Offensive operation against Japan in the closing days of World War II.
