Time-honored Irani cafes disappearing in Mumbai
A local man enjoys his breakfast at Kyani & Co., a 111-year-old Irani cafe in Mumbai on July 15, 2015. Such Persian-style teahouses, opened mainly in the 19th century by Zoroastrian Iranian immigrants who fled the persecution of the Islamic dynasty, flourished into popular local eateries but are now disappearing due to city redevelopment and a lack of successors.
