TEPCO dumps treated groundwater in sea to tackle toxic water buildup
File photo taken on Sept. 4, 2015, shows tanks that store groundwater pumped up the previous year on a trial basis from wells around damaged reactor buildings at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Its operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. discharged on Sept. 14, 2015, some 850 tons of filtered groundwater into the ocean, in an effort to curb the amount of toxic water building up at the complex.
