Akiyama records 211th hit, exceeding Ichiro
Seibu Lions outfielder Shogo Akiyama hits a triple during the second inning of a game against the Orix Buffaloes at Kyocera Dome in Osaka on Sept. 30, 2015, marking the 211th hit of the season, a record for a Japanese player. Akiyama broke the previous record marked by Ichiro Suzuki, now a Miami Marlins outfielder, in 1994. The record for the Japanese professional baseball is 214, achieved by Hanshin Tigers' Matt Murton in 2010. (Kyodo)
