Young men march with huge torches during the annual Kurama Fire Festival at Yuki Shrine on Mt. Kurama in Kyoto, western Japan, on Oct. 22, 2015. Held annually on Oct. 22, the festival is said to have originated in 940 when the worshipped deity was transferred from Kyoto Imperial Palace to the shrine and was welcomed by inhabitants who carried torches to light the way.
