Japan begins sending "My Number" ID numbers to residents
A postal worker leaves a post office in the northeastern Japan city of Aomori on Oct. 23, 2015, to deliver cards bearing 12-digit identification numbers to residents in the area. About a dozen of Japan's 47 prefectures began mailing the numbers the same day under a new social security and tax number system known as the "My Number" system, to be put into use in January.
