Japan vessels leave for Antarctic for whaling through March
People wave at one of the two vessels leaving Shimonoseki, Japan, on Dec. 1, 2015, to resume so-called research whaling in the Antarctic Ocean for the first time since an international court ruled against the practice in 2014. The vessels will join the 8,145-ton mother ship Nisshin Maru from Hiroshima Prefecture and another ship that had already left Miyagi Prefecture a day earlier. (Kyodo)
