Vietnam rice paddy field beset by flowing salt water
Photo taken in October 2015 shows a 52-year-old rice farmer in the southern Vietnamese province of Ben Tre, one of the lowest reaches of the Mekong River, pointing at his paddy field damaged by the inflow of salt water due to global warming. Coconut seedlings he planted in place of rice plants are seen in front. (Kyodo)
