Civil group seeks abolition of security laws
Nahoko Hishiyama (C), a member of a civil group campaigning for the abolition of Japan's security laws, seeks signatures for a petition on Dec. 15, 2015, in Tokyo's Shinjuku district. The group, along with other like-minded organizations, aims to collect 20 million signatures by May 2016 to terminate the laws, which allow Japan to exercise the right to collective self-defense by using force to defend allies under attack.
