100 days until Hokkaido Shinkansen begins operations
A board is unveiled at Tokyo Station on Dec. 17, 2015, celebrating the 100-day countdown until the beginning of operations for the 149-kilometer Hokkaido Shinkansen bullet train line, which connects the northern part of Japan's main island of Honshu and the northernmost main island of Hokkaido. Beginning March 26th, 2016, 10 round-trips will be operated from Tokyo to Shin-Hakodatehokuto stations each day using the Tohoku and Hokkaido Shinkansen lines. Passengers will be able to travel between the two stations in just about four hours at the fastest. (Kyodo)
