Filipino "comfort women" lead rally as Japanese emperor meets Aquino
Filipino women forced to work in Japanese military brothels during World War II lead a protest near Malacanang Palace in Manila where Philippine President Benigno Aquino welcomed and met with visiting Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko on Jan. 27, 2016. The former so-called "comfort women," who are now mainly in their 80s, said they were availing themselves of the opportunity presented by the emperor's visit to demand justice from the Japanese government for their sufferings during the 1942-1945 Japanese occupation.
