Security cameras in operation on shinkansen train
In this Feb. 23, 2016 photo taken at JR Tokyo Station, a security camera (center top) is seen inside a passenger car in a Central Japan Railway Co. shinkansen bullet train, as the railway operator began constant monitoring of bullet train passenger cars running between Tokyo and Hakata, the first such step taken by a shinkansen operator, in the wake of an arson-suicide that occurred on a train bound for Osaka from Tokyo in June 2015 that left two dead and 26 others injured. The company started the monitoring regime on a single train the same day, but plans to expand it to cover 90% of its rolling stock by the end of March 2018. (Kyodo)
