Geisha in Kyoto to be subsidized for making business cards
Photo taken March 4, 2016, in Kyoto shows business cards, known as "senjafuda," used by geisha, or apprentice geisha known as maiko, in the western Japanese city. A foundation in Kyoto said the same day it will start subsidizing the production of business cards for local geisha and maiko in an effort to promote the culture of female entertainers in the ancient Japanese capital.
