Tsunami in Japan: 5 years on
Combined photos show an area of Futaba, Fukushima Prefecture, in northeastern Japan that hosts the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant on April 14, 2011 (top), shortly after the town was hit by radiation leaks due to meltdowns at the power plant in the wake of massive tsunami; and the same area nearly five years later on March 5, 2016. A slogan that had been on display in the town since 1988, reading "Nuclear power: energy for a bright future," has been dismantled while a barricade was set up to prevent entry in the town, designated a no-go area due to radiation.
