5 years since quake, tsunami, nuclear disasters
Police officers comb through soil in a coastal area of the northeastern Japan city of Ishinomaki on March 11, 2016, the fifth anniversary of a magnitude 9.0 earthquake and ensuing massive tsunami, to search for the remains of people still missing from the disaster. The calamity left 15,894 people dead and 2,561 missing, presumed dead, as of March 10, according to the National Police Agency. (Kyodo)
