Snow removal work on Shiretoko Peninsula
A snow plow clears snow from a road on the Shiretoko Peninsula, a world natural heritage site on the eastern tip of Japan's northernmost main island Hokkaido, on April 5, 2016. Authorities began removing the snow from the road which is closed during the winter to reopen it by Japan's Golden Week holidays from late April to early May. (Kyodo)
