Kyoto Imperial Palace opens to public
The Kyoto Imperial Palace in the western Japanese city of Kyoto begins a springtime opening to the public on April 6, 2016. Currently, the palace established in 1855 is open to the public twice a year -- five days in spring and another five days in fall. But the government plans to open the state-owned facility throughout the year in a bid to draw more foreign visitors to Japan, with the change expected to be implemented by March 2017. (Kyodo)
