Tens of thousands of geese take off from Hokkaido pond
A flock of greater white-fronted geese take off from a pond in search of feed in Bibai, Hokkaido, in northern Japan in the early morning on April 20, 2016. The birds, numbering some 68,000, had spent winter in various parts of Japan and have been resting in the pond since around March before flying northward to Siberia between late April and early May.
