Kenyan government burns more than 100 tons of ivory

Some 105 tons of elephant tusk ivory, mainly confiscated from poachers, have been set on fire at Nairobi National Park near Nairobi on April 30, 2016. It is believed to be the largest stockpile ever destroyed, with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta personally setting alight some of the tusks, as the government made a strong statement against the illegal ivory trade.
