Over 10,000 people still in shelters 1 month after Kumamoto quakes
The popular black bear character Kumamon visits a volunteer center in Minamiaso, southwestern Japan, on May 14, 2016, a month after the first of a number of strong earthquakes rocked Kumamoto Prefecture. Despite some signs of recovery including resumption of railway and expressway operations, more than 10,000 people are still taking refuge at shelters. (Kyodo)
