Plutonium shipment from Japan arrives in U.S.
File photo taken in March 2016 shows the Pacific Egret transport vessel leaving a port in Tokaimura, northeast of Tokyo, for the United States with large amounts of plutonium and other nuclear materials aboard. The National Nuclear Security Administration said June 6 that the shipment, in line with a 2014 Japan-U.S. agreement to send such materials to the United States to prevent them from falling into the hands of criminals or terrorists, had arrived at nuclear facilities in South Carolina and Tennessee.
