Indonesian pres. visits S. China Sea isles to show sovereignty
Undated photo shows Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo. The president sailed through waters off the Natuna Islands on the edge of the South China Sea on June 23, 2016, aboard a warship. His visit comes in the wake of the detainment of a Chinese fishing boat and its seven Chinese crew members by an Indonesian navy warship for fishing illegally in the area. Jokowi's visit, accompanied by several Cabinet members, was aimed at showing "Natuna is under Indonesia's sovereignty," Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said the previous day. (Kyodo)
